For 30 years, we’ve been independently developing and publishing incredible video games at our multiple studios founded by Jason & Chris Kingsley. Rebellion is more than just games; we have our own film studio, create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as Judge Dredd.

We are seeking a passionate and driven Environment Artist to help elevate the visuals of an exciting unannounced game. This is your chance to join a studio famous for the Sniper Elite series, and fresh off the success of Atomfall, our biggest game launch to date.

Your role will be to create visually stunning environments that push the aesthetic bar and engage the player.

You will create high-quality assets in line with technical constraints and artistic direction. As part of the Environment Art team, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality of an exciting new project.

This opportunity can be based out of any of our studios in Oxford, Warwick, or Runcorn, offering flexibility, collaboration, and the chance to work with a world-class team! We provide a relocation package, including moving assistance, temporary accommodation, and full support to ensure a smooth transition.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist in planning the environment layout, considering narrative and visual storytelling, and document intentions.
2. Create environments in collaboration with Level Design.
3. Develop functional assets that respect technical and artistic constraints for sharing across the project.
4. Track and update the progress of tasks using designated tools.
5. Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders to confirm work direction and consistency.
6. Ensure the quality of the project by collaborating with Technical Artists and Senior Artists, making necessary adjustments.
7. Implement and incorporate feedback from leads and producers.
8. Reference game design documents to understand environments, objectives, atmospheres, story, and style.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of 3D software such as 3D Studio Max, Maya, and Blender.
• Experience with 3D sculpting packages like Zbrush or Mudbox.
• Understanding of modelling processes, hi-res sculpting, baking, and material/shader setup in real-time engines.
• Knowledge of PBR material pipeline/Substance.
• Ability to produce high-quality art assets and visually compelling environments.
• Skill in translating concept art and references into 3D assets.
• Understanding of composition and visual storytelling.
• Knowledge of the video game development process.
