Job description

We want you to #JOINTHEREBELLION!

For 30 years, we’ve been independently developing and publishing incredible video games at our multiple studios founded by Jason & Chris Kingsley. Rebellion is more than just games; we have our own film studio, create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as Judge Dredd.

We are seeking a passionate and driven Environment Artist to help elevate the visuals of an exciting unannounced game. This is your chance to join a studio renowned for the Sniper Elite series, and fresh off the success of Atomfall, our biggest game launch to date.

Your role involves creating visually stunning environments that push aesthetic boundaries and engage players. You will produce high-quality assets aligned with technical constraints and artistic vision, playing a key role within the Environment Art team to ensure the project’s quality.

This opportunity is based out of our studios in Oxford, Warwick, or Runcorn, offering flexibility, collaboration, and the chance to work with a world-class team. We provide a relocation package, including moving assistance, temporary accommodation, and full support for a smooth transition.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in planning environments considering narrative and visual storytelling, documenting your intentions.
  2. Create environments collaboratively with Level Design.
  3. Develop functional assets respecting technical and artistic constraints.
  4. Track and update progress using designated tools.
  5. Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure work aligns with project goals.
  6. Maintain technical and artistic quality by collaborating with Technical Artists and Senior Artists, making necessary adjustments.
  7. Implement and incorporate feedback from Leads and Producers.
  8. Reference design documents to understand environments, objectives, atmospheres, story, and style.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in 3D software such as 3D Studio Max, Maya, or Blender.
  • Experience with 3D sculpting tools like Zbrush or Mudbox.
  • Knowledge of modelling, high-res sculpting, baking, and shader setup in real-time engines.
  • Understanding of PBR material pipeline/Substance.
  • Ability to produce high-quality art assets and compelling environments.
  • Skill in translating concept art into 3D assets.
  • Understanding of composition and visual storytelling.
  • Familiarity with the video game development process.

We offer extensive benefits, including:

  • 22 days holidays plus Christmas closure and bank holidays, increasing with service.
  • Private Medical Insurance, healthcare cash plan, dental, and vision.
  • Life Assurance, Income Protection, Critical Illness Cover.
  • Enhanced Family Leave.
  • Interest-Free, Tax-Free loans.
  • Enhanced Pension Scheme.
  • Wellbeing support through EAP.
  • And much more, including discounts, freebies, and social events!
