Job summary

Elekta in Crawley seeks a Patent Engineer to bridge the IP team and engineering groups. You will help identify innovations, perform prior-art reviews, and support patentability assessments alongside Patent Attorneys.

Ideal candidates are recent graduates with strong technical communication skills and an interest in innovation management and IP. This hybrid role combines discovery work with portfolio maintenance.

Qualifications

• University education in science or engineering (or equivalent) with ability to understand technical concepts in electronics, physics or software.
• Recent graduate or up to 2 years of experience
• Interest in patents, IP, innovation management or technology commercialisation
• Familiarity with scientific literature reviews, patent databases, or technical searching

Responsibilities

• Identify, capture and assess innovations with patent potential with engineering teams.
• Support invention disclosure reviews, prior-art searches and patentability assessments with Patent Attorneys.
• Maintain Elekta's patent portfolio records and portfolio management.
• Monitor competitor activity and IP landscapes for business insights.
• Promote IP awareness through training materials and cross-functional engagement.
• Support continuous improvement of IP processes and innovation management tools
