Job Description

Support the litigation teams by undertaking various tasks to achieve Client KPI’s and SLA’s, tailored to the specific Business Unit providing Paralegal services.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Update case management system with file allocations, diary records, court dates, directions, applications, orders, and general activity, ensuring accurate recording for progress tracking.
  2. Draft routine court documents such as AOS, Notice of Change, Court Orders, Witness Summons, and precedent-based applications.
  3. Liaise with Courts, Counsel, Opponents, Experts, Witnesses, Insureds, and brokers to progress cases, including requesting updates, extensions, dealing with mandates, booking Counsel, and arranging appointments.
  4. Follow up on outstanding instructions, documents, and actions to ensure timely responses.
  5. Make payment requests and chase to ensure payments are received and dispatched on time.
  6. Diarise and update CRU.
  7. Ensure compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations.
  8. Undertake additional duties to support File Handlers and the team.
  9. Assist in recovering Client’s outlay and collate outcomes.
  10. Conduct minor investigations on liability and quantum to support case progression.
  11. Perform administrative duties such as MI completion, drafting write-off forms, requesting final bills, and managing file closure/transfer activities.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
  • Legal environment experience is desirable.
  • Good communication skills, negotiation, and influencing abilities.
  • Experience following a semi-prescribed work program.
  • Handling calls and inquiries from customers, suppliers, and the public.
  • Strong information gathering and recording skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise, and organise workload.
  • IT literacy, proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with Claims/Case Management systems.
  • Proficient in alpha-numerical filing systems.
  • GCSE grade A-C in Maths and English or equivalent.
