Job summary

Hitachi Rail Limited in Newton Aycliffe is seeking a Networking & Infrastructure Engineer on a 6-month fixed-term contract to join our UK Infrastructure team. You will bring strong Cisco ISE and NAC expertise to support a major implementation project and help ensure secure, reliable network services across UK sites.

The role involves maintaining and enhancing enterprise networks, implementing security controls, and collaborating with internal teams and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering enterprise networking in a large multi-site organisation.
• Strong IP networking, routing & switching knowledge with emphasis on security.
• Proficient with Cisco networking tech including switches and WLAN controllers.
• Experience with Cisco ISE (802.1X) and NAC.
• Experience administering Fortigate firewalls and VPNs.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain enterprise networking services across multiple UK sites.
• Lead and contribute to network security projects, with focus on Cisco ISE and NAC.
• Support Cisco switching, wireless networks and WLAN controllers.
• Administer Fortigate firewalls, policies, VPNs and DMZ environments.
• Ensure security via patching, hardening and cyber security initiatives.
• Investigate and resolve networking incidents and service requests per ITIL.
