Job summary

Mistral AI is seeking a Technical Lead, Applied AI to drive strategy, execution and delivery of enterprise AI solutions. You will lead Applied AI Engineer teams and serve as the primary technical contact for strategic customers—from pre-sales to post-implementation—bridging research, product and engineering.

Responsibilities include hands-on coding, leading teams, and designing scalable AI systems with fine-tuning, RAG, and agentic workflows.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English.
• PhD or Master2s degree in AI, ML, CS or related field.
• 7/8+ years in AI/ML with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership role.
• Proven track record leading teams to deliver complex AI projects.
• Deep expertise in fine-tuning LLMs, advanced RAG, agentic systems, and NLP deployment at scale.
• Proficient in Python, PyTorch and modern AI frameworks (LangChain, Hugging Face).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and MLOps tools.
• Strong software engineering skills including API design, backend/full-stack development, and system architecture.
• Excellent technical communication and collaboration across executives, engineers, and researchers.
• Thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments and mentoring talent.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on coding for critical project modules and de-risking key components.
• Lead technical teams of Applied AI Engineers with mentorship and best practices.
• Guide pre-sales discussions by translating customer needs into actionable AI solutions.
• Design and oversee complex AI systems, including fine-tuning, RAG, agentic workflows and NLP deployments.
• Identify emerging AI trends and champion best practices for deployment and scale.
• Collaborate with product managers, researchers and engineers to align customer feedback with the roadmap.
