Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an ENT Receptionist for 22.5 hours per week across 3 days (Mon-Fri) to support a busy ENT Outpatient Department. The role involves welcoming patients, processing data, and providing relief cover during leave or sickness, ensuring efficient service delivery.

You will perform clerical duties, access patient information systems, and maintain accurate patient records to high standards while coordinating with teams to keep operations smooth.

Qualifications

  • Typewriting/ Keyboard qualification or equivalent experience, GSCE or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an efficient reception service, greeting patients and visitors and directing them as needed.
  • Provide clerical support: retrieval, preparation, filing of patient information, booking appointments, drafting correspondence.
  • Maintain systems to ensure patient information is available and complete to quality standards.
  • Update patient records after consultations and locate supplementary documentation as required.
  • Maintain the case note tracking system and resolve issues affecting workflow.
  • Use electronic systems for correspondence, clinic management and results retrieval as required.
  • Maintain constructive relationships across divisions and with external teams to improve service.

Job description

ENT Receptionist - 22.5hrs per week to be worked across 3 days - Monday to Friday . The ENT Department are looking for a conscientious and hard working Receptionist to join our busy and friendly Reception team.Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be expected to provide a comprehensive Receptionist service in our busy ENT Outpatient Department. The post holder will also be expected to provide relief cover for members of the team during times of annual leave and sickness, as and when necessary, organising your own workload in order to maintain an efficient and professional service., To provide a comprehensive administration and clerical service within ENT. A key requirement of the post is to welcome and receive patients/relatives/carers and other visitors into the workplace, and maintain the preparation and flow of patient data/information, hard copy or electronic, ensuring that all data/information is maintained to the agreed quality standard and available at the right time and place. The post holder will also be expected to organise own workload in order to maintain an efficient and professional service.

SERVICE DELIVERY
  • 1. Provide an efficient reception service, greeting patients, public and all visitors as they arrive, dealing with enquiries promptly, taking action as necessary and directing patients/relatives/carers accordingly,
  • 2. Provide a comprehensive clerical service to the Divisions, undertaking all relevant work-related tasks including retrieval, preparation and filing of patient information/data, arranging transport, booking appointments, correspondence, photocopying, faxing and emailing, distributing reports and letters according to the requirements of the service, where appropriate,
  • 3. Maintain systems and process to ensure that patient information/data is available at the right time, that they are in the right place, and that they are complete and accurate according to the agreed quality standard,
  • 4. Update patient information/data when patients have been seen, according to the agreed quality standard, locate and retrieve supplementary documentation for patient information/data as required, filing diagnostic reports and essential documents in the appropriate place,
  • 5. Maintain the case note tracking system, ensuring that is functioning correctly, promptly solving and/or reporting difficulties and hold-ups,
  • 6. Be able to use the required electronic systems for correspondence, clinic management and the retrieval of results, as and when required,
  • 7. Maintain constructive relationships with others, within and across Divisions and externally in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of services to patients
