Job summary

East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Consultant in ENT with a special interest in Head & Neck Surgery based at Ipswich Hospital. The post involves cross-site working with Colchester Hospital and a shared on-call service.

The successful candidate will lead a consultant-led service, develop pathways, and collaborate across wards, ED, and primary care while supporting junior staff and ensuring training aligns with College requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide a Consultant-led service with the highest standard of care.
• Develop and maintain care pathways and clinical guidelines.
• Develop and maintain good working practices with wards, outpatients and the ED.
• Collaborate and promote close working links with colleagues, other departments and primary care.
• Offer educational, clinical support and leadership to junior medical and nursing staff.
• Ensure information is available to measure clinical performance and benchmarks.
• Review quality of services and explain causes of success and failures; maintain high standards.
• Provide professional leadership that aligns with organisational values and address poor behaviour.
• Ensure junior doctors training conforms to College requirements.
• Participate in the appraisal of medical staff within the department.
