Job summary

Barking and Dagenham College is seeking an Enrichment Assistant to join our Enrichment team on a full-time, term-time only basis. You will help plan and deliver a diverse programme of enrichment activities that engage students and support their personal and social development.

You will also help develop Student Voice activities, clubs and volunteering opportunities, working with curriculum teams to promote engagement, wellbeing and a strong sense of community across the College.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area such as teaching, coaching, counselling, youth work or sport.
  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Experience of working with young people in an educational or similar setting.
  • Experience of designing and delivering engaging activities, events or programmes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and maintain effective partnerships and networks.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a commitment to promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a wide range of enrichment activities for students across the College.
  • Build positive relationships with students, providing support and guidance through both formal and informal interactions.
  • Support the delivery of wellbeing, health awareness, and personal development activities, including drug, alcohol and substance misuse education programmes.
  • Lead on organising and coordinating Students' Union activities, clubs and societies.
  • Support students to engage in volunteering opportunities and employability-focused activities.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of major college events, including Freshers' Fair, Health and Fitness Fair, themed campaigns and celebration events.
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum teams to enhance students' personal development and enrichment experiences.
  • Monitor and report on student participation and engagement using college systems.
  • Maintain an active presence within student social spaces, promoting positive engagement and constructive use of leisure time.

We have an exciting opportunityavailable here at Barking and Dagenham College. We are currently looking for Enrichment Assistant to join our Enrichment team.

You will join us on afull-time, term-time only basisand in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £26401 -£25,825pa inc London Weighting (pro rata'd to 36hpw, 38 weeks per year).

The Enrichment Assistant role:

Reporting to the Support Life and Enrichment Manager, the Enrichment Assistant will play a key role in planning and delivering a diverse programme of cross-college enrichment activities that engage students and contribute to their personal development, social development and employability. The postholder will also support the development of Student Voice activities, clubs, societies and volunteering opportunities, helping students make the most of their college experience.

Working closely with students and curriculum teams, you will help create an inclusive and vibrant enrichment programme that promotes engagement, wellbeing, achievement and a strong sense of community across the College.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

Our ideal Enrichment Assistant should have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area such as teaching, coaching, counselling, youth work or sport.
  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths or equivalent.
