NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking an Endoscopy Decontamination Unit (EDU) Technician at Glasgow Royal Infirmary to decontaminate, disinfect, assemble, store and distribute reusable endoscopes across clinical areas.

The role requires working to safety and quality standards in a busy hospital environment. On‑the‑job induction and mandatory training are provided, with a permanent, full‑time pattern Monday–Friday.

• Ability to work to strict safety and quality standards.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Basic IT knowledge.

The Role

The position is for an Endoscopy Decontamination Unit (EDU) Technician at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The core purpose of the role is to decontaminate, disinfect, assemble, store, and distribute reusable flexible endoscopes, following manufacturer instructions and ensuring safe use for patients across clinics, theatres, and other treatment areas. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

Base Location: Endoscopy Decontamination Unit, Glasgow Royal Infirmary
Permanent, Full-time
Work pattern: Monday–Friday, rotating weekly across:
08:00–16:00
09:00–17:00
10:00–18:00
12:00–20:00 (Mondays only, when required)

Essential Experience & Skills

• Good literacy, numeracy, and manual dexterity
• Ability to work well within a team

Training Requirements

• On‑the‑job induction
• Completion of departmental competencies
• All statutory and mandatory training
• Mandatory Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) standards
