Job summary

Gordano School is recruiting a part-time Teacher of English to join a collaborative English team. The role includes delivering Core Support in Year 11 and Year 10 with bespoke literacy interventions and liaising with parents on student progress.

The successful candidate will foster inclusive teaching, engage with ICT tools, and contribute to a vibrant school community in Portishead, eight miles outside Bristol. Monday and Thursday, 13 hours weekly, from 01/01/2027 to 31/08/2027.

Qualifications

• Successful teaching experience with learners requiring additional literacy/English interventions.
• Ability to build excellent relationships with pupils and staff.
• Strong organisational skills and teamwork.
• Commitment to using ICT as a teaching tool.
• Enthusiasm, flexibility and ability to adapt teaching styles.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Core Support in Year 11 and Year 10 with bespoke literacy/English interventions.
• Plan, deliver and communicate with parents regarding interventions for Years 7–11.
• Collaborate with English team to promote inclusive, varied literacy activities.
• Contribute to the wider school community through trips and enrichment when applicable.
