Job description

We’re working with a supportive alternative provision in Newcastle seeking a confident English Tutor or HLTA to deliver GCSE and Functional Skills English to small groups of students.

About the Role:
  • Delivering GCSE and Functional Skills English in small-group or 1:1 sessions
  • Supporting learners with SEMH or additional needs
  • Planning and adapting sessions to suit individual levels
  • Working closely with the teaching team to track progress
  • Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm Mon–Thurs | 8:30am – 3:00pm Fri
  • Start: ASAP - Ongoing
What You’ll Need:
  • Experience delivering GCSE or Functional Skills English
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • HLTA qualification, relevant tutoring background, or FE experience
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
  • QTS isn’t required; this role suits an experienced HLTA, unqualified teacher, or FE/GCSE English tutor with a strong literacy support background.
