As of September 2025, Brownhill Learning Community will defederate into two separate entities: a specialist SEMH Special School led by Narda Sestanovic, and a Pupil Referral Service (PRS) led by Dave Shields. Both schools aim to create environments that enhance learner engagement, wellbeing, and learning.
The Special School in Heywood, Rochdale, will serve KS2-KS4 learners with a focus on nurturing, trauma-informed, inclusive, and aspirational education tailored to individual needs.
The Pupil Referral Service will operate across three sites within Rochdale Borough, catering to KS2-KS4 pupils, especially those who are vulnerable or in need. We seek candidates committed to supporting these pupils to overcome barriers to success.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and empathetic English Teacher to join our dynamic team. You will teach secondary students with diverse SEN and SEMH needs, providing a calm, structured environment to engage with the curriculum. Your role will include helping students develop literacy skills, confidence in communication, and their voice through English.
Both schools welcome applicants from MS1-UPS3 levels, all with an additional SEN point 1 award.
Visits to the current Special School (Heights Lane, Rochdale) are encouraged on Friday 13th June between 10:00am-12:00pm.
