Prospero Teaching is seeking an English Teacher for a college in Consett to support GCSE English Language and Functional Skills English for post-16 learners. You will deliver engaging, high-quality lessons, assess progress and provide constructive feedback to help learners achieve.

The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, with a full-time temporary contract and a start date of 2 November. You should hold QTS or PGCE and have experience teaching GCSE English and safeguarding

Competenze

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching English at GCSE level.
• Experience delivering Functional Skills English is highly desirable.
• Strong subject knowledge and ability to engage learners of varying abilities.

About the Role:

• Teaching GCSE English Language and Functional Skills English to post‑16 learners.
• Planning, preparing and delivering engaging, high‑quality lessons that inspire and challenge learners.
• Assessing, monitoring and recording learner progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement.
• Developing schemes of work and lesson plans tailored to individual and group learning needs.
• Supporting learners through all aspects of their educational journey, including examinations and assessments.
• Creating a positive learning environment that promotes engagement, attendance and achievement.
• Differentiating teaching strategies to meet the needs and abilities of all learners.
• Working collaboratively with curriculum leaders and colleagues to support curriculum development and quality improvement initiatives.

Pay, Hours and Contract:

• Pay: 160 - 200 per day (depending on experience)
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
• Contract: Full-time Temporary
• Start Date: 2nd November
• Location: Consett, County Durham

Experience, Qualifications and Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching English at GCSE level.
• Experience delivering Functional Skills English is highly desirable.
• Strong subject knowledge and ability to engage learners of varying abilities.
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Strong communication, organisation and planning skills.
• A commitment to raising attainment and supporting positive learner outcomes.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to process a new application.
• Professional teaching references covering the last two years.
