Job summary

Empowering Learning Ltd is recruiting an enthusiastic English Teacher to join a secondary school in Bury, starting immediately until Christmas with a potential extension into 2027. You will teach across KS3 and KS4, plan engaging lessons and support pupils to make strong progress.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:10pm. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching English at KS3/KS4, strong classroom management, and a genuine passion for helping young people.

Location: Bury, Greater Manchester

Start Date: Immediate

Duration: Until Christmas, with potential to extend into 2027

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:10pm

Pay: £160 - £225 per day, depending on experience

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and committed English Teacher to join a secondary school in Bury starting immediately and continuing until Christmas, with the potential for the role to extend into 2027 for the right candidate.

This is a full‑time teaching position, Monday to Friday, working with pupils across KS3 and KS4.

The Role

• Teaching English across KS3 and KS4.
• Planning and delivering engaging and effective lessons.
• Supporting pupils to make strong progress and achieve their potential.
• Maintaining positive classroom management and high expectations.
• Working collaboratively with the English department and wider school team.
• Full‑time hours of 8:30am - 3:10pm, Monday to Friday.
• Initial placement until Christmas, with the possibility of a longer‑term extension into 2027.

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4.
• Ideally holds QTS, although experienced English teachers without QTS may also be considered.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• A genuine passion for English and supporting young people.
• Reliable, professional and able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Available to commit to the full‑time role.

Requirements

• Two professional references covering recent relevant employment.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Relevant teaching experience within a secondary school setting.
