Job description

Are you an English Teacher committed to improving the lives of pupils and young people?

Purpose of the Job

To encourage, monitor, and record the progress of individual pupils, devising and adapting resources to meet their needs. To support all students towards accreditation at appropriate levels, providing ongoing assessment, reporting, and recording.

Promote the safety and well-being of pupils and young people. Keep up to date with developments in curriculum subject areas, new resources, and teaching methods.

To teach and effectively deliver the English curriculum in consultation with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Supporting the development and delivery of a broad, balanced, and relevant curriculum tailored to students' age, aptitude, ability, and any special educational needs, meeting the standards of a registered school.
  2. Understanding the challenges faced by young people and ensuring an inclusive approach to foster achievement and challenge discrimination.
  3. Promoting and adhering to the school’s Pupil Protection and Safeguarding policies and procedures.
  4. Conducting educational assessments on entry and during students' time at the school, contributing to the development of Individual Learning Plans that meet their needs and comply with EHCP requirements where applicable.
  5. Maintaining current knowledge of relevant legislation regarding education.
  6. Demonstrating a professional commitment to the education, welfare, and health & safety of pupils.

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Degree Level Qualification

Willow Park School is a new 55-place SEN school for pupils with complex needs, including SEMH and Autism. It is a co-educational setting for students aged 9 to 16, located in Milton Keynes. Willow Park School is part of the Acorn portfolio, operated by Outcomes First Group, a leader in specialist education and residential care for vulnerable pupils.
