Amarval Partners Ltd. is seeking a dedicated English Teacher for a long-term cover role in Redbridge. You will teach KS3 and KS4, delivering engaging lessons to develop reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills, and foster a love of literature in a supportive school environment.

The successful candidate will use strong subject knowledge, manage classes effectively and contribute to GCSE preparation and student progress throughout the term.

Formación

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent UK teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.
• Strong knowledge of English Language and English Literature.
• Confident teaching across KS3 and KS4.
• Good understanding of National Curriculum and GCSE English specifications.
• Right to Work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS or willing to obtain DBS checks.

The school is looking for a dedicated teacher with excellent subject knowledge, a genuine passion for English and the ability to inspire students to develop their reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills.

The successful candidate will be confident teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with a strong understanding of the English curriculum and the ability to deliver engaging, challenging and well-structured lessons.

You will be responsible for creating a positive and purposeful learning environment, encouraging students to develop a love of literature, improve their written communication and achieve their full academic potential.

• Develop students' reading skills, encouraging them to analyse texts, understand different writing styles and explore themes, characters and language techniques.
• Support students in developing their written communication, vocabulary, punctuation and grammatical accuracy.
• Deliver lessons covering a range of literary texts, poetry, plays and non-fiction materials.
• Prepare students for GCSE English Language and Literature examinations, where required.
• Encourage students to develop critical thinking, independent learning and confidence in expressing their ideas.
• Adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet the individual strengths, abilities and learning needs of students.
• Use effective assessment methods to monitor progress, identify gaps in knowledge and plan appropriate interventions.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively, maintaining a safe, inclusive and productive learning environment.
• Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their written work and examination performance.
• Work collaboratively with the English Department and wider teaching team to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.

Requirements and Experience

• Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
• Previous experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.
• Strong subject knowledge of English Language and English Literature.
• Confident teaching across KS3 and KS4.
• A good understanding of the National Curriculum and GCSE English specifications.
• Strong knowledge of literacy, reading comprehension, creative writing and analytical skills.
• Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
• Must hold an Enhanced DBS or be willing to undertake the necessary DBS checks.
