Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. in St Albans is seeking an English & Psychology Teacher to work with pupils aged 11-16 in a small-group setting. This is a minimum one-term assignment with a possible permanent move if successful.

You will teach English and Psychology content, focus on GCSE English, reading and writing, and support pupils who are below expected attainment. The role offers a competitive daily rate and strong school support.

Qualifications

• QTS and strong English teaching experience
• Experience teaching English to secondary-aged pupils
• Psychology knowledge or SEMH experience
• Excellent behaviour management skills
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach
• Confidence supporting pupils with low prior attainment
• Strong relationship-building skills
• Resilience and the ability to adapt to individual needs

Responsibilities

• Teach English and Psychology-related content to pupils aged 11-16
• Small teaching groups of just 2-8 students
• Support pupils working below age-related expectations
• Deliver engaging, accessible lessons tailored to individual needs
• Help rebuild confidence, motivation and engagement with education
• Teach areas including GCSE English, reading, writing, comprehension and communication
• Build positive relationships and provide consistent support
• Manage behaviour calmly and confidently
