Job summary

The Bedford College Group is seeking an English Lecturer (Qualified) at Shuttleworth College, Old Warden. You will deliver GCSE English language and broader English teaching across levels, ensuring engaging lessons and strong learner progression.

Role requires a Degree/Level 5 in English, PGCE/Certificate in Education, and recent teaching experience. Travel between sites may be expected; safeguarding and professional standards are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Degree or Level 5 qualification in English
• Certificate in Education/PGCE (or equivalent)
• GCSE Maths & English (A–C)
• Recent English teaching experience and ability to deliver high‑quality lessons across levels

Responsibilities

• Deliver High-Quality English Teaching – Plan and deliver engaging lessons across multiple levels, ensuring individual learner needs are met.
• Assess & Monitor Progress – Prepare schemes of work, assess to awarding body standards, track student progress, and provide timely interventions.
• Enhance Student Experience – Support tutorials, promote vocational opportunities, and maintain inclusive, safe learning environments.
• Contribute to Curriculum & Quality – Develop innovative resources, participate in course reviews, marketing activities, and ensure compliance with quality processes.
• Uphold Professional Standards – Maintain safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety compliance while engaging in CPD.
