Job summary

The Bedford College Group is seeking a Teaching Assistant (Level 2) in Maths and English to join the English and Maths department at Shuttleworth College, Old Warden. The role supports GCSE and Functional Skills delivery, with a focus on inclusive practice and safeguarding. Permanent – Term / Part Time, 37 hours per week across 35 weeks per year.

Right to work in the UK required; sponsorship not provided. Salary £25,585–£30,915 pro-rata with benefits including pension and staff development

Qualifications

  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding standards.

  • Assessment Support & Learning Resources – Assist with preparation of materials, small group or 1:1 support, and monitoring learner progress in line with tutor guidance.
  • Collaboration, Professional Practice & Compliance – Work closely with teaching staff and teams, maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and CPD standards.

About The Role

We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant (Level 2) in Maths and English to join our English and Maths department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Teaching Assistant (Level 2), you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Classroom Support & English/Maths Delivery – Provide effective in‑class support for GCSE and Functional Skills English and Maths, helping learners understand content and engage in lessons.
  • SEND Support & Inclusive Practice – Assist learners with additional needs, including EHCPs, promoting inclusive learning environments and supporting student independence.
  • Learner Engagement, Behaviour & Progress – Encourage positive behaviour, attendance and participation, supporting learners’ academic progress and personal development.
