Job summary

Harris Academy Orpington is seeking a qualified Lead Practitioner of English to drive high standards of teaching and learning across the Faculty. You will lead the improvement of classroom practice, monitor progress and support staff to deliver ambitious curricula, ensuring students achieve excellent outcomes.

The role requires QTS or equivalent, a relevant degree, and a track record of outstanding results at KS3/KS4 with experience of lesson observations, robust feedback, and improvement

Qualifications

• The successful candidate will hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, with evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Demonstrate outstanding teaching practice and excellent behaviour management.
• Experience of lesson observations and robust feedback.
• Experience of improvement planning and implementing strategies to raise student achievement.
• Ability to contribute to improving learning, teaching, and curriculum.
• Proven track record of excellent KS3/KS4 results; KS5 experience preferred.
• Experience of pupil tracking and feedback practices; working with governors and multi-schools is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Lead improvement in teaching and learning across the Faculty and academic success of students.
• Collaborate as part of the Lead Practitioner Team to realise excellence.
• Account for student performance in line with Academy procedures.
• Provide Governing Body with accurate information relating to Faculty performance.
• Support and participate in Harris Federation work and subject groups.
• Contribute to Academy policies and ensure consistent implementation.
• Ensure high-quality teaching and learning in the Faculty or across the Academy.
• Participate in duties during lunch, break, before/after school.
