Job summary

UHI Shetland is seeking an SVQ Assessor in Engineering Welding and Fabrication to support and assess candidates in work-based learning across Shetland. You will plan and carry out workplace assessments, support evidence collection, and contribute to vocational learning development in the local workforce.

You will work with candidates, employers and colleagues to provide an effective, inclusive learning experience that aligns with national standards and sector requirements.

• Ability to collect and verify assessment evidence in line with standards.
• Capability to support vocational learning development in collaboration with employers.

Job description

The postholder will play a key role in supporting and assessing candidates undertaking SVQ qualifications in Engineering Welding and Fabrication across work-based learning environments within Shetland.

Working as part of the UHI Shetland team, the role focuses on enabling candidates to successfully achieve their qualifications through high-quality assessment, guidance, and support. This includes planning and carrying out workplace assessment activities, supporting evidence collection, and contributing to the ongoing development of vocational learning and skills within the local workforce.

The postholder will work in partnership with candidates, employers, and colleagues to ensure an effective, supportive and inclusive learning and assessment experience that reflects national standards and sector requirements.
