Job summary

eTeach UK Limited is seeking a moderator to review candidates' coursework, ensuring marking is accurate and consistent. You'll join a busy team and work with your team leader. Remote moderation involves downloading samples from a central repository, feedback via video call, and reporting to the centre.

Visiting moderation includes arranging and conducting centre visits with written reports. Training will be provided, and you will participate in standardisation activities supporting the

Qualifications

• Relevant teaching or assessment experience within the last 3 years.
• PGCE students considered if teaching element completed.
• Current or previous experience teaching within the UK education system.
• A teaching qualification or a degree related to the assessment subject.

Responsibilities

• Moderate each centre at least twice in an academic year (winter/spring and summer).
• Review samples of coursework to ensure marking is accurate and consistent.
• Work with a team and team leader, including remote moderation and on-site visits when required.
• Perform standardisation activities to apply marking criteria consistently.
• Coordinate with centres to download samples, provide feedback via video calls, and produce reports.

Job description

As a moderator, you’ll be looking at samples of candidates’ coursework to make sure that a centre’s marking is accurate and consistent. You’ll be part of a team and you’ll work closely with your team leader.For remote moderation, you will do a ‘virtual visit’ with a centre where you’ll download samples of coursework from a central repository and then feed back to the centre via a video call and follow up with a report to the centre.For visiting moderation, you will contact centres to arrange a visit, visit the centre in person and follow up the visit with a report to the centre.We’ll make sure you are fully trained so you understand the moderation process and your part in it. There will also be standardisation activities to make sure you can apply the marking criteria consistentlyThe amount of work involved will vary depending on the mode of moderation and the level of the qualification.You will generally be allocated a minimum of 5 centres initially, and should expect to moderate each centre at least twice in an academic year (once in winter/spring and again in the summer)

What we are looking for

Core skills and experience

Relevant teaching or assessment experience within the last 3 years. We also consider PGCE students who have completed the classroom teaching element of their course.

Current or previous experience teaching within the UK education system.

A teaching qualification or a degree related to the assessment subject

Be living in the UK.
