Job summary

Chiltern Railways is seeking an Engineering Training Manager at Aylesbury Depot to lead the development of training and competency assessments for the engineering teams. You will maintain records, supervise apprentices, and ensure training complies with safety plans and policies.

Responsibilities include managing the safety-critical competency system, developing courses, coordinating with fleet managers, and delivering training across the depot.

Qualifications

• Proven written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Possesses a flexible approach to this demanding role.
• Technical and engineering knowledge of Chiltern Railways Fleet.
• Able to work under own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Lead the provision and development of training and competency assessments for engineering staff.
• Maintain records of training undertaken by Engineering department staff.
• Supervise and manage engineering apprentices throughout their training.
• Ensure job activities comply with Safety Case and Safety Plan policies.
• Manage the engineering department safety-critical competency management system.
• Develop training to meet requirements from Operations Managers and Fleet Manager.
• Organise and deliver training courses for all Engineering staff including Plant & Buildings.
• Source external training where in-house expertise is unavailable.
• Manage external training within the training budget and update courses as procedures change.
• Oversee PTS competency and training provision company-wide.
• Promote good housekeeping within the depot (5S) and undertake other duties as requested.
