Job summary

Stagecoach is hiring a PCV/HGV Technician at the Taffs Well depot near Cardiff. You will maintain and repair the fleet to DVSA standards, diagnose faults with modern tools, and perform preventative maintenance including roadside repairs.

The role requires City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 in PSV/HGV maintenance, a full UK license, and a proactive safety-first approach. Overtime opportunities and training are offered.

Qualifications

• Qualified engineer with City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 in PSV or HGV maintenance.
• Hands-on experience servicing and repairing commercial vehicles, preferably buses/coaches.
• Able to use diagnostic tools and follow service manuals.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and service buses to safety standards.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults using diagnostic tools.
• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance including roadside repairs.
• Report defects and work safely according to policy.
• Collaborate with workshop colleagues and mentor juniors.

• Pay rate of £19.47 per hour
• Overtime paid at enhanced rate
• One in four Shift pattern of 5 over 7, Including day and afternoon shifts

Looking for a hands-on engineering role where your skills keep public transport moving?

We're on the lookout for a PCV/HGV Technician to join our close-knit team at Stagecoach Taffs well. You'll play a vital role in keeping our low-emission fleet safe, reliable, and ready to serve the community.

What you'll be doing:

• Maintaining and servicing buses to Stagecoach and DVSA safety standards
• Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using modern diagnostic tools
• Carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance, including roadside repairs
• Reporting defects and completing all work safely and in line with policies
• Collaborating with workshop colleagues and supporting junior team members

What we're looking for:

• A qualified engineer with City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 in PSV or HGV Maintenance (or equivalent)
• Previous hands-on experience servicing and repairing commercial vehicles, ideally in a bus, coach, truck, or HGV environment although we are open to different backgrounds
• Confident using diagnostic tools and service manuals
• A proactive, safety-first approach
• A team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail
• A full UK driving licence
