Job summary

Associated British Ports (ABP) is seeking an experienced industrial‑biased Electrical Technician to join the engineering maintenance team at the Port of Cardiff, with some time in Barry. The role requires Level 3 apprenticeship, 18th Edition, and a strong safety mindset.

The position runs Monday to Friday, 07:30–16:00 (Fridays finish at 15:00). Salary is £37.7k with overtime. Benefits include pension, private healthcare, and a supportive training academy at ABP.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a wide range of electrically focused equipment at the Port of Cardiff (and Barry).
  • Work a day-based schedule 07:30–16:00, with a 15:00 finish on Fridays.
  • Be comfortable working at height, near water and in confined spaces.
  • Support the engineering maintenance team with preventative and reactive tasks.

Due to a retirement we’re looking to recruit an experienced industrial‑biased Electrical Technician to join the engineering maintenance team to assist with maintaining a wide range of electrically focused equipment primarily at the Port Of Cardiff, but with some time spent in Barry. The role offers a great development opportunity for someone with electrical experience to learn from our experienced team. You should have prior installation or maintenance experience in the commercial or industrial sectors, and should have an awareness of 3‑Phase. You'll need to be comfortable working at height, working near water and in confined spaces.

Key Requirements
  • Experience in an electrically focused role within the industrial or commercial sectors.
  • Apprentice served and qualified to Level 3.
  • Hold the 18th Edition certification.
  • Full driving licence.
  • High standards of health & safety.
  • Ability to work in a team.

This is a day‑based role working Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 16:00, with a 15:00 finish on Fridays with a salary of £37.7 k with overtime available.
