Job summary

Adepto Technical Recruitment Ltd is recruiting an Engineering Technician (Mechanical Bias) for a GMP manufacturing site in Hertfordshire. This permanent role suits a multi-skilled engineer with a mechanical focus.

You will attend breakdowns, carry out running repairs on filling and packaging lines, complete preventative maintenance, train operators, and support continuous improvement while maintaining GMP standards. Shift pattern is 6am to 2pm, with overtime as required.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification with mechanical bias.
• Experience in GMP manufacturing desirable.
• Food manufacturing experience advantageous.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Hands-on mechanical, electrical and workshop skills.

Responsibilities

• Attend breakdowns and perform running repairs on filling and packaging lines.
• Diagnose downtime issues and log faults.
• Procure parts and components for maintenance.
• Carry out preventative maintenance as per schedules.
• Support and train operators in line-setting.
• Modify machines and equipment as directed by Project Manager.
• Overhaul and repair plant and services.
• Apply multi-skilled engineering practices across disciplines.
• Maintain GMP compliance and company standards.
• Support continuous improvement across engineering and warehouse.
• Collaborate with wider engineering team and other departments.
• Provide flexibility across warehouse activities.
• Support shifts and overtime as needed.

Engineering Technician (Mechanical Bias) – Hertfordshire – Permanent – £39,000 to £43,000 - 6am to 2pm

We are working on the behalf of a contract manufacturing company who are seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer with a mechanical bias.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend breakdowns and carry out running repairs on filling and packaging lines to minimise operational downtime.
• Accurately diagnose downtime issues and ensure all faults are appropriately recorded and logged.
• Facilitate the purchase of parts and components required for maintenance and repair activities.
• Complete preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with manufacturing schedules.
• Support and train operators in line-setting activities where required.
• Manufacture change parts and carry out modifications and developments to machines and equipment as directed by the Project Manager or appointed person.
• Overhaul and repair plant, machinery and services as required.
• Apply multi-skilled engineering practices across mechanical, electrical and workshop disciplines, within the required level of competence.
• Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements and company standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and warehouse operations.
• Work collaboratively with the wider engineering team and other departments to maintain effective operations.
• Provide flexibility and support across warehouse activities as required.
• Be prepared to work various shift patterns and a reasonable amount of overtime where necessary to provide operational cover.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Relevant Engineering qualification, preferably with a Mechanical Engineering bias.
• Previous experience within a GMP manufacturing environment is desirable.
• Experience within food manufacturing or a similar production environment is advantageous.
• Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Practical experience across mechanical, electrical and workshop disciplines is desirable.
