Job summary

Circle Health Group in Glasgow is seeking a full-time Engineering Technician (Mechanical/Plumbing) to join the Engineering department at the Ross Hall Cluster. 37.5 hours per week, with a flexible shift pattern and on-call rota across the cluster.

The role focuses on mechanical/electrical maintenance for hospital sites, excluding clinical equipment, and requires CSCS, ECS (if electrical), and City & Guilds/ONC/NVQ 3 qualifications. Training will be provided for medical gas responsibilities.

  • ECS Card if electrically qualified required.
  • City & Guilds Part 3 / ONC / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine and specialised engineering maintenance and breakdown support.
  • Complete work orders for planned, reactive, and sub‑contract orders.
  • Support hospital sites with technical, health, safety and environmental duties.
  • Train and mentor site technicians and engineering assistants.

Engineering Technician (Multi-skilled) - Mechanical/Plumbing (Preferred)

Salary: Up to £40,955.00 per year

The Ross Hall Cluster in Glasgow is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Engineering Technician to join their team of staff in the Engineering department.

This is a Full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern. The engineer will be part of an on-call rota supporting the sites within the cluster.

Duties
  • Supporting our main Hospital, Clinics & Decontamination unit.
  • This is an engineering role (Electrical / mechanical) and the engineer employed will not be working on any clinical equipment.
  • To ensure the prompt completion of all work orders for planned maintenance, reactive response, specialist sub-contract work orders and remedial work orders.
  • Provide routine and specialised engineering maintenance and breakdown support to a specific hospital site.
  • Provide competent technical, health, safety and environmental support & assistance as required and act as an example of company policies and procedures.
  • Working as part of a team offering support where needed & share skills and experience with the team as they will with new starter to help build an all-round knowledgeable skilled team.
  • Provide training, mentoring and hands‑on assistance to any additional Site based Technicians or Engineering Assistants.
  • Provide Engineering support and advice to the Local Hospital managers as required.
  • Demonstrate a can‑do culture based on exemplary engineering standards in an environment of open and honest integrity.
  • Help build and develop a strong team ethos.
  • You comply with all relevant mandatory training.
Qualifications
  • Current Construction Safety Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card at appropriate level of qualification.
  • If electrically qualified, current Electro‑technical Certification Scheme (ECS) Card required.
  • City& Guilds Part 3, ONC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering essential.
  • Training will be provided to advance engineers in Medical gases where they will gain (RP) Responsible Person training so they are able to support our site with the day‑to‑day medical gas works (low hazard works) & can then progress over time up to an (AP) Authorised Person (High Hazard works).
  • Willingness to act as AP and RP Medgas once trained, where required, is essential.
  • Time served apprenticeship in a Mechanical or Electrical biased discipline preferred.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety guidelines, statutes and ACOPs. (This is also supported by our local H&S Reps)
  • Desirable - Understanding of L8 Legionella ACOP within Hospital buildings. Training can be provided if required.
  • Demonstrated high level of organisation & time management skills, particularly in an environment with multiple, and sometimes conflicting priorities.
  • Sound fault finding techniques and ability to read drawings.
  • Must hold a UK full driving licence.
  • Successful applicants will need to pass a DBS check.
