Job summary

Cheshire College South & West is seeking an Engineering Technician to support the Engineering department at the Crewe Campus. The role involves preparing materials, maintaining equipment and assisting practical sessions and demonstrations.

The position is permanent and full-time (37 hours/week) with a salary of £24,784 to £26,592 per annum. Applicants should have Level 2 in a relevant discipline and a background in engineering, plus DBS clearance.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) in relevant discipline.
  • GCSE Maths and English (C/4+) required.
  • IOSH qualification (or willingness to work towards) is desirable.
  • First aid certificate (or willingness to work towards) is desirable.
  • Proven experience of working in an engineering environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills are essential.
  • Enhanced DBS check is required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, store and maintain materials and equipment within curriculum areas.
  • Provide technical support within the Engineering department.
  • Develop and construct activities for use in practical sessions.
  • Assist in practical classes, carrying out demonstrations and trialling practical activities.
  • Carry out risk assessments for technical activities.

Engineering Technician (EL845)

Salary: £24,784 - £26,592 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37 per week
Location: CreweCampus

We are seeking an Engineering Technician to join our team, the role will be based at our CreweCampus.

This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative and inspiring Technician to support in the provision of a quality support service for learners, visitors, customers and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • The preparation, storage and maintenance of materials and equipment within the curriculum areas;
  • To provide technical support within the Engineering department;
  • Develop and construct activities for use in practical sessions;
  • Assist in practical classes, carrying out demonstrations and trialling practical activities;
  • Carry out risk assessments for technical activities.
Key Person Specification Requirements
  • Level 2 (or equivalent) in relevant discipline;
  • GCSE Grade C (4/5) Maths and English;
  • IOSH qualification (or equivalent) or willingness to work towards;
  • Valid first aid certificateor willingness to work towards;
  • Proven experience of working in a Engineering environment;
  • Excellent organisational skills; and
  • Enhanced DBS check.
