Job summary

RecruitMe is seeking an Engineering Team Leader for a busy food manufacturing site in the United Kingdom. You will lead a skilled maintenance team, drive equipment reliability, manage PMs and breakdowns, and support site services.

The role requires hands-on leadership with electrical and mechanical expertise, and experience with PLC-controlled machinery and CMMS. The position offers a rotating shift pattern (6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm) and excellent benefits.

6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm | Average 40 hours per week | Only 2 weekends in every 8-week cycle

Are you an experienced Engineering Team Leader, Engineering Supervisor, Maintenance Team Leader or Senior Maintenance Engineer looking to take the next step in your career?

We are recruiting for a well-established food manufacturing business looking for a hands-on Engineering Team Leader to lead a skilled maintenance team and help drive engineering performance across a busy manufacturing site.

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced multi-skilled engineer with both electrical and mechanical expertise, combined with previous supervisory or team leadership experience.

You’ll remain technically involved while taking responsibility for maintenance delivery, breakdown response, planned maintenance, site services and continuous improvement.

The Role

As Engineering Team Leader, you will:

• Lead and support a team of multi-skilled maintenance engineers

• Ensure engineering activities are completed safely and efficiently

• Coordinate planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance

• Respond to breakdowns and support effective fault diagnosis

• Carry out electrical and mechanical fault finding

• Support production equipment and PLC-controlled machinery

• Maintain and support site utilities and services

• Work with boilers, cooling systems and water systems

• Support fabrication and general engineering activities

• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance

• Drive continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives

• Maintain accurate engineering and maintenance records

• Use CMMS systems to manage maintenance activity

• Support engineering projects and site improvement initiatives

What We’re Looking For

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience as an Engineering Team Leader, Maintenance Supervisor or Senior Engineer
• Experience leading or supervising maintenance engineers
• Electrical and mechanical engineering qualifications
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability
• Experience within manufacturing, production or food manufacturing
• Knowledge of PLC-controlled machinery
• Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics
• Experience working with PPM and reactive maintenance programmes
• Good IT skills and experience using CMMS or maintenance management systems
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• A hands-on approach to engineering leadership

Experience with boilers, refrigeration, cooling systems, water systems, utilities or other site services would be particularly beneficial.

Shift Pattern

This role works across a rotating shift pattern covering seven days:

• 6am–2pm
• 2pm–10pm
• Average 40 hours per week
• Only 2 weekends worked during each 8-week rotation
