Job summary

Pilgrims Pride Ltd. is seeking an Engineering Team Leader to guide a shift-based engineering team, providing technical support during start-up and ongoing operations in a fast-moving food production site.

You will drive maintenance and reliability activities, ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards, and collaborate with production to minimize downtime and meet targets.

Qualifications

• Must have recognised qualification in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
• Experience in FMCG/chilled environments is preferred.
• Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
• Demonstrated ability to close out jobs and drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers on shift rotation and provide technical support.
• Ensure Health, Safety, Environment and Hygiene policies are followed.
• Close out all equipment failures, work orders and planned maintenance (PPM).
• Maintain data entry on Holistech for parts used, jobs raised and completed.
• Keep workshop areas audit-ready and ensure proper handback procedures.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Team Leader, to lead a team of Engineers on shift rotation. To provide technical support in the correction, prevention and elimination of technical problems for the site. To work with production during factory start up.

Responsibilities

• Responsible that the company Health, Safety, Environment and Hygiene policies are adhered to.
• Responsible for managing and closing out all equipment failures, work orders and PPM jobs.
• Responsible for data entry on to Holistech for all parts used & jobs raised & completed during the shift
• Responsible for housekeeping of all workshop areas and ensuring that the department is audit ready at all times.
• Responsible for your own and your teams engineering handback procedures.
• Ensure all work on shift is carried out to specification and that food safety standards are met.
• Ensure that targets are met using the appropriate technical support in the correction, prevention and elimination of problems.
• Demonstrate a clear team work ethos with the Engineering department and across other departments.
• Attends Daily meetings to handover with incoming / outgoing shifts
• Provides a written shift report for each shift
• Assess Skills across the shift and works with Supervisors in closing skills gaps
• Delivers departmental goals through effective leading of the shift teams
• Excellent timekeeping, attendance and adherence to company procedures.
• Chooses the most appropriate method and tools for communication.
• Respond promptly and effectively to ensure quick resolution to any issues to minimize any downtime, quality and efficiency problems.
• Participate constructively as a member of the department, keeping everyone informed and proactively share your knowledge and expertise within the team.
• Understand and contribute using a range of risk assessment techniques in order to ensure safety of plant, equipment and people.
• Support a culture that enhances behavioural awareness of quality, safety and the environment.
• Demonstrate good behavioural and safety principles in all activities.
• Continually strive to reduce costs whilst ensuring production downtime is kept to a minimum.
• Be adaptable to any shift pattern that the company deems necessary for the business

Essential Criteria

• A recognised qualification for mechanical and electrical engineering
• The candidate should have an understanding of engineering requirements and preferred if they have experience in an FMCG chilled environment.
• A good aptitude / understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering.
• Must be a team player.
• Must be self-motivated.
• Must be determined and able to demonstrate closure of all jobs.
• Demonstration of the above through theory and practical assessment, both on the job and off the job and at all times, to act in the best interest of Pilgrims Pride Ltd.
• Competent IT/Computer skills including Holistech literate.
• Actively seek opportunities for self-development and learning and learns from experiences through evaluation
• Attend training courses as identified by legislative / company requirements
• Engage with the PDP process to identify training and development opportunities.
