Job summary

CV Technical seeks a Senior Engineer / Engineering Team Leader to take a lead role across the site’s maintenance and engineering activities. The role combines hands-on technical work with frontline leadership, guiding a three-person engineering team and coordinating maintenance tasks on site.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading or supervising a small engineering team.
  • Hands-on maintenance in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of PPM systems and maintenance planning.
  • Strong fault finding and reactive maintenance skills.
  • Good Health & Safety awareness and compliance knowledge.
  • Experience with plant and process equipment and installations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of three engineers on a day-to-day basis.
  • Delegate engineering tasks and organise shift/rota arrangements.
  • Remain hands-on with mechanical and electrical maintenance and fault finding.
  • Manage and maintain the site's planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programme.
  • Ensure mechanical, electrical, plant, equipment and building issues are dealt with promptly.
  • Carry out and oversee safety checks and statutory testing.
  • Ensure engineering systems, including steam systems, comply with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Help maximise equipment uptime and minimise unplanned downtime.
  • Monitor energy usage and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Provide technical input into repairs, upgrades, equipment replacement and new installations.
  • Coordinate the installation and commissioning of new process equipment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and produce reports as required.
  • Support the training and development of engineers within the team.
  • Promote good Health & Safety standards and lead by example.
  • Act as a keyholder and provide an emergency/on-call response when required.
  • Support the wider operation with ad-hoc engineering requirements.

Job description

Senior Engineer / Engineering Team Leader
  • Salary: Up to £48,000 + overtime
  • Hours: Flexible day-based hours, typically between 6:30am and 6:30pm
  • Holiday: 22 days + bank holidays
  • Pension: 4%
  • Overtime: 1.5x standard overtime, with enhanced rates for Sundays and Saturday overtime after 4 hours
The Opportunity

An established engineering operation is looking for an experienced Senior Engineer / Engineering Team Leader to join the team and take a lead role across the site's maintenance and engineering activities.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced engineer who is ready to take the next step in their career, providing day-to-day leadership to a small engineering team while remaining hands-on technically.

You’ll be responsible for coordinating a team of three engineers, organising maintenance activities and shift cover, supporting PPM, and helping ensure all mechanical, electrical, plant and building systems remain safe, compliant and operational.

About You

We're looking for an experienced multi-skilled engineer who is confident taking responsibility and leading from the front.

You don't need to be a traditional Engineering Manager. This role would suit someone who is currently a Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer, Chargehand or Engineering Team Leader and is looking for greater responsibility.

You’ll ideally have experience with:
