Job summary

DS Smith at Featherstone is seeking an Engineering Team Leader to oversee day‑to‑day maintenance activities on a busy site. You will lead a team of engineers, drive reliability, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across production and maintenance functions.

The role requires hands‑on leadership, strong people management, and a focus on safety, planning, and asset care to maximise equipment performance and site efficiency.

Qualifications

• Requires Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship or higher in a mechanical, electrical or multi‑skilled discipline.
• Experience leading or supervising engineering teams in fast‑paced manufacturing.
• Proactive people leadership, coaching and performance management.
• Experience delivering preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Knowledge of maintenance planning systems (SAP advantageous).
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of maintenance engineers, creating a high‑performing function.
• Provide operational leadership in the absence of the Engineering Manager.
• Ensure preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance is planned and completed effectively.
• Drive Asset Care to improve reliability and maximise equipment performance.
• Manage activities through the site’s maintenance management system, prioritising and planning work.
• Create and deliver training and development plans for engineers.
• Manage team performance with coaching and feedback.
