Job summary

Backbase is seeking an experienced engineering leader to shape system design and architecture while actively contributing as a software engineer. You will lead design reviews, drive production excellence and coordinate with product managers and domain architects to translate business needs into robust technical outcomes.

The role also emphasizes people leadership, cultivating psychological safety, mentoring a team of 6 to 9 engineers, and guiding AI tooling adoption to accelerate delivery

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on software engineering experience.
• Strong system design and architecture knowledge.
• Proven ability to lead teams of engineers.
• Experience with CI/CD, test automation and observability.
• Comfort leading during incidents and under pressure.
• Experience adopting AI tooling and automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead design reviews and architecture decisions and RFCs.
• Code reviews, debugging production issues and unblocking the team.
• Drive CI/CD, test automation, observability and release practices.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Domain Architects to translate business needs.
• Lead adoption of AI tooling within the squad to accelerate delivery.
• Mentor 6–9 engineers and maintain team health and performance.
