Job summary

Infocus Resources is seeking an engineering surveyor to join the survey team on a civil infrastructure project in the UK. The role spans the construction phase, requiring accurate data handling and strong QA/QC practices.

The candidate will operate surveying equipment (total stations, GPS/GNSS, laser scanners) and support setting out, reporting, and coordination with on-site teams. A CSCS card and relevant qualifications are essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying or Construction.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a surveying role on civil projects.
  • CSCS card and site safety qualifications.
  • Experience with surveying equipment and data processing software.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and verify survey control networks and data per QA/QC standards.
  • Carry out assurance surveys for reinforced concrete structures (re-pour and post-pour).
  • Perform as-built surveys using laser scanning and point cloud software.
  • Support setting out and surveying activities with engineering teams.
  • Prepare survey reports, drawings and technical data for construction teams.
  • Coordinate with on-site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to align programme and survey work.
  • Support machine control applications for excavation, demolition and drilling operations.
  • Maintain accurate survey records and project documentation in health and safety compliant manner.
  • Attend daily briefings and report progress/issues.

Job description

As an engineering surveyor, the role will cover a wide range of activities which are described in the key responsibilities section below. As part of the survey team, the focus of the role will vary during the stages of construction.

Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note that this process can take up to 8 weeks.

Eligibility criteria: Many positions within the project are subject to national security clearance restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.

Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday - Friday with potential 7/3/7/4 shift pattern available as programme needs

Pay: £(Apply online only) / day PAYE

Key Responsibilties:
  • Maintain and verify survey control networks, and ensure survey data is collected/recorded accurately following project QA/QC standards.
  • Carry out assurance surveys for reinforced concrete structures (both re-pour and post-pour checks)
  • As-built surveys using laser scanning and point cloud modelling technologies
  • Support engineering teams with setting out / surveying activities to ensure consistency
  • Support the production of survey reports, drawings and technical data for construction teams
  • Coordinate with on site engineers, supervisors and subcontractors to ensure alignment between the programme and survey operations
  • Support machine control application for excavation, demolition and drilling operations. Check design and create models for machine control
  • Maintain accurate survey records and project documentation, and ensure all activities are carried out in line with health, safety and environmental requirements
  • Attend daily briefings and provide updates on survey progress / issues
  • Degree, diploma, or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Construction.
Role Requirements:
  • Degree, diploma, or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Construction
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar surveying position on a civil engineering project.
  • Experience with surveying equipment; total stations, GPS/GNSS and laser scanners.
  • Survey data processing software; AutoCAD Civil 3D, Leica Infinity, Leica Cyclone and Leica 3DR.
  • Understanding of QC1 procedures and quality documentation in a civils context.
  • CSCS Card and relevant site safety qualifications.
  • Member of the CinstCES (or technical member working towards full member), or another body.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience working on major infrastructure or utilities projects (e.g., highways, rail, water, energy, nuclear).
  • Knowledge of BIM or digital construction processes.
  • First aid and additional safety training certifications.
