Job summary

CV Technical in Merthyr Tydfil is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to lead a team of Multi Skilled Engineers on a 4 on, 4 off days and nights shift, ensuring continuous production through proactive maintenance and strict safety standards.

Ideal candidates will have an electrical and/or mechanical engineering background with PLC knowledge, hands-on leadership experience in manufacturing, and a track record in continuous improvement and coaching across shifts.

Qualifications

• Electrical and/or Mechanical engineering qualification required.
• Experience supervising an engineering team in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong fault finding in electrical and mechanical systems.
• PLC knowledge and operating awareness.
• Lean methodologies and continuous improvement experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Multi Skilled Engineers on shift.
• Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities.
• Respond effectively to breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
• Provide technical and behavioural support to engineers and apprentices.
• Drive preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Act as a technical resource for engineering projects and specifications.
• Analyse maintenance and production data to identify areas for improvement.
• Promote best practice across the engineering function.
• Ensure all engineering activities are completed safely and in line with company procedures.

We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Supervisor to join an established food manufacturing site in Merthyr Tydfil.

This is a hands on leadership role, responsible for managing a team of Multi Skilled Engineers and ensuring the site maintains continuous production through effective preventative maintenance, breakdown response and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will have a strong engineering background alongside previous experience supervising or leading an engineering team within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Candidate

• Electrical and/or Mechanical engineering qualification
• Previous experience in a maintenance engineering environment
• Experience leading or supervising an engineering team
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault finding knowledge
• PLC knowledge and operational awareness
• Domestic wiring experience
• Boiler / steam experience would be advantageous
• Experience with continuous improvement and Lean methodologies
• Strong communication, coaching and relationship-building skills
• Organised, disciplined and able to work under pressure
• Proactive approach with the ability to work on own initiative
