Job summary

GEM Partnerships in Henlow is seeking an experienced Engineering/Maintenance Supervisor to join our UK facility. You will report to the Plant Manager and lead a maintenance team, driving plant and machinery improvements to maximise uptime and production efficiency.

We require a time-served electrical biased engineer with 5+ years in maintenance and project work, plus supervisory experience. ONC or equivalent, strong safety focus, CAD experience (AutoCAD/SolidWorks) and excellent communication

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple project activities in plant/machinery improvements.
• Oversee day-to-day maintenance (reactive and preventative).
• Manage equipment modifications and enhancements including testing and commissioning.
• Plan, organise and direct site maintenance team to improve production and uptime.
• Coordinate equipment selection, purchasing and implementation for product development projects from design to production.
• Collaborate with Product Engineering, Operations, Divisional Engineering and external manufacturers to ensure project success and maximise plant utilisation.

The Role:

Our client is a hugely successful global organisation with multiple manufacturing facilities and market leading products in its field. They are currently looking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated Engineering/Maintenance Supervisor for one of their UK facilities.

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, The Engineering Supervisor would be responsible for:

• Multiple project level activities in the areas of Plant/Machinery improvements.
• Day to day maintenance of the plant and equipment, both reactive and preventative in nature.
• Existing equipment modification and enhancement, including Project Documentation, testing and commissioning.
• Planning, organising, and directing the site maintenance team to develop methods for increased production and equipment uptime.
• Equipment allocation and purchase, and implementation of operational processes related to product development projects from conceptual designs/drawings through full release to production.

The incumbent will work with Product Engineering, Operations, Divisional Engineering teammates, and outside equipment manufacturers to ensure new/existing equipment development projects are successful and plant utilisation is maximised.

The Person:

• Time-served Electrical Biased Engineer, with at least 5 years post apprenticeship experience in maintenance and project work, coupled with previous supervision and/or project leadership experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Educational qualification to a minimum of ONC (or equivalent).
• Good knowledge of, and commitment to health and safety.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to deal with multiple priorities at the same time, with a flexible and pro-active approach to workloads and duties.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with good PC literacy.
• Good inter-personal and team working skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Experience of engineering disciplines.
• Candidates with a Multi-skilled background with appropriate training and qualifications, any experience of high-speed machinery, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, along with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) would be highly desirable.
