Role Description

Reporting to the Engineering Stores Manager, this role will support the Engineering Stores Manager to proactively co-ordinate an efficient and cost effective Engineering Stores to service the Site’s requirements.
Support the Engineering Stores Manager in working with preferred Suppliers, ensuring that Stores processes and Inventory controls are adhered to in terms of cost, quality and availability, ensuring no detrimental impact on Operations.
As part of the overall Engineering team, the role will work with both Site and Group requirements to support the achievement of optimal operational efficiency at the lowest costs.
This role is key to supporting the Engineering Stores Manager to deliver the agreed manufacturing vision and strategy through effective and efficient Stores management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety, Quality, Hygiene.
  • Ensure that purchased items conform to legislative and ethical requirements.
  • Embrace and positively effect a culture of safe behaviour and Contractor health and safety in the Stores areas
  • Actively support a culture of enhancement of behavioural awareness to reduce accidents and near misses.



Stores Management:
  • Manage all requisitioning and purchasing requirements, where applicable selecting the best Supplier in terms of price, quality and service.
  • Works within the Engineering Stores, ensuring that Princes procedures are adhered to in relation to:
  • Maintenance notification and works orders.
  • Put-away of stocked parts.
  • Goods issues and reversals of stocked parts.
  • Stock transfers.
  • Inventory Counts.
  • Purchase requisitions.
  • Refurbished parts.
  • Support of new stock part creation.
  • Support of obsolescence management.
  • Support of non-conformance identification, reporting and rectification.
  • Support of OEM part management change control process.
  • Support of consumables process.
  • Support of consignment process.
  • Support of aged Inventory management.
  • Support within Group and site KPI framework to drive continuous improvement in Engineering Inventory management.
  • Maintain stock levels and ensure stock accuracy against SAP records whilst adhering to stock reduction please as directed by the Engineering Stores Manager.
  • Constantly challenge stock levels and spares/service requests to ascertain need.
  • Source best practice methods of storing items and share with Canning team members.
  • Continually monitor Suppliers, prices, service and quality to ensure the most cost-effective deals and solutions are obtained.
  • Actively challenge Suppliers to minimise the effect of parked/blocked invoice by way of SAP VIM process and collaboration with Group Accounts Payable colleagues.
  • Complete relevant documentation/record data in required formats reporting anomalies to Engineering Stores Manager as required.
  • Undertake Audits and report for the business as required.
  • Undertake training of others as and when required.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Contribute to and help implement continuous improvement to enhance quality, safety, efficiency and waste reduction in local environment.
  • Ensure systems for Stores to minimise Inventory levels and working capital.
  • Support lean manufacturing work practices including but not limited to 5S, autonomous maintenance, problem solving (including root cause analysis) to drive continuous improvements activity at Site.


Manage/Develop People:
  • Undertake training of others as and when required to do so in regarding to SAP and Stores processes.
  • Conduct self in line with the values and behaviours of Princes at all times.
  • Technical Leadership:
  • Support the Engineering Stores Manager in being the first point of technical support in relation to Engineering Inventory management and SAP materials and warehouse management.
  • Supply best practice in Engineering Stores management.
  • Develop and apply own specialist technical skills in support of Stores KPIs.
  • Communication:
  • Work closely with support functions (HR, H&S, Technical, Operations, Logistics and Finance) to ensure resources required are identified and communicated with all outstanding issues resolved.
  • Where required: communication with Engineering management to ensure parts are available for planned maintenance, engineering and operational priorities as advised.
  • Liaise with Colleagues within Engineering team and across Site functions regarding spares requirement.
  • Communicate robustly as required with Engineering to ensure planned maintenance, engineering and operation priorities are considered.
  • Attendance at meetings as necessary and required by the Engineering Stroes Manager.

Role Requirements
  • Knowledge and experience of operating within an Engineering and or Logistics environment.
  • Sound understanding of SAP.
  • Experience of operation within a fast moving manufacturing environment.
  • Good working knowledge of other operating systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • FLT license – preferably for both FLT and Reach Truck.
