Job summary

Cotteswold Dairy in Tewkesbury is seeking an Engineering Shift Team Leader to provide on-the-floor support to Engineers and ensure smooth production and distribution operations at the depot.

The role requires an electrical apprenticeship, experience with high-speed FMCG machinery and automated equipment, and previous supervisory exposure. You will lead maintenance planning, fault finding, mentoring apprentices, and deputise for the Engineering Manager, with on-call duties roughly one week in six.

Qualifications

• Electrical-based apprenticeship qualification required.
• Experience with high-speed FMCG or similar production machinery essential.
• Experience working with automated machinery essential.
• Supervisory or people management experience essential.
• Strong communication and adaptability to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support the Engineering Manager in delivering departmental goals.
• Supervise, train and mentor Engineers, utilising team skills effectively.
• Coordinate and deliver planned preventative maintenance schedules.
• Repair and test electrical and mechanical plant equipment.
• Lead effective fault finding and resolution for high-speed automated machinery.
• Assist with departmental paperwork, records and compliance requirements.
• Mentor Apprenticeship candidates as appropriate.
• Deputise for the Engineering Manager and cover for Engineers when required.
• Participate in equipment breakdown call-out rota.
• Call out rota is roughly one week in six.

Engineering Shift Team Leader – Cotteswold Dairy (Tewkesbury)

Location: Tewkesbury Depot | Shift Pattern: Week 1: Mon - Sat 06:00 - 13:45 (6 shifts), Week 2: Mon - Fri 13:45 - 21:45 (5 shifts)

Salary: £22.26 per hour, plus overtime of 1.25 x hourly rate above 40 hours | Department: Engineering | Reports to: Engineering Leads

Are you an experienced and motivated Engineering Shift Team Leader? Then join our Engineering Department at our Tewkesbury Depot providing on-the-floor support to our Engineers, and ensure the smooth running of production and distribution operations across our busy site.

About You - Skills & Experience

• Minimum of an electrical-based apprenticeship qualification – essential
• Experience of high-speed machinery in FMCG or a similar production environment – essential

Strong Electrical Fault-finding Skills – Essential

• Experience working with automated machinery – essential

Previous Supervisory Or People Management Experience – Essential

• Self-motivated with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
• Strong communication skills and ability to foster good working relationships
