Job summary

SC Engineering Group in Basildon, Essex, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead engineering and manufacturing projects from concept to handover.

You will coordinate design, procurement, manufacture, assembly and testing, manage budgets and schedules, and act as the primary customer contact to ensure on-time, on-cost delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering/manufacturing projects from concept to delivery.
• Strong understanding of design, procurement, manufacturing and installation processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering projects from order through design, manufacture, testing and handover.
• Develop and maintain project plans, milestones and resource requirements.
• Deliver projects on time, within budget and to quality standards.
• Act as main point of contact for customers and manage expectations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, manufacturing and installation.
• Oversee budgets, cost forecasting, margins and commercial performance.
• Identify risks and changes to scope; manage FAT, SAT and handover.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality and contractual requirements.

Salary: £45,000 - £70,000 per annum (DOE)

The Opportunity

SC Engineering Group is recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to join an established engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of industrial machinery and equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager with a background in engineering, manufacturing, special purpose machinery or capital equipment to take ownership of technically challenging projects from initial order through to final customer handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage engineering projects from initial order through design, procurement, manufacture, assembly, testing, installation and commissioning.
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones and resource requirements.
• Take full responsibility for project delivery, ensuring agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards are achieved.
• Act as the main point of contact for customers, providing regular project updates and managing expectations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, manufacturing and installation.
• Manage project budgets, cost forecasting, margins and commercial performance.
• Identify and manage project risks, technical challenges and changes to scope.
• Oversee project documentation, reporting and progress reviews.
• Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and final customer handover.
• Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety, quality and contractual requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of project management processes and procedures.

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience as a Project Manager within an engineering, manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Experience managing engineering projects from initial concept or order through to completion.
• Strong understanding of engineering design, procurement, manufacturing, assembly and installation processes.
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules, resources and commercial risks.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Strong customer-facing experience and excellent communication skills.
