Job description

Join Safran Engineering Services as an Engineering Project Management Officer (PMO) which is a key enabling role within the PCE Office at Safran Electrical & Power site. The PMO supports the Senior Project Manager and Project Managers (Technical) in the structured, consistent, and data-driven execution of engineering development programmes, ensuring that project governance, reporting, planning tools, and performance indicators are maintained to the standard required by Safran Group project management processes.

Working across the engineering project management portfolio, the PMO Officer coordinates QCD (Quality, Cost, Schedule) performance data, maintains project dashboards and schedule inputs, supports process compliance, and drives the deployment and improvement of project management methods and tools. The role operates under the day-to-day direction of the Engineering Acceleration Manager and provides direct support to Senior and Project Managers (Technical) on assigned projects.

This role is designed both as a substantive delivery position and as a structured entry point into the Engineering Project Management function. PMO Officers who demonstrate strong analytical capability, process rigour, and growing project management understanding will be supported to progress towards Project Manager (Technical) level, with access to professional qualifications, mentoring, and cross-programme exposure.

Key Responsibilities
1. Project Performance Monitoring & Reporting
  • Collect, consolidate, and validate QCD performance data across assigned projects, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency in line with Safran project management standards.
  • Maintain and update project dashboards and KPI reports monthly (minimum), covering RC/NRC cost tracking, milestone adherence, deliverable status, and Key Decision Dates (KDDs).
  • Identify and report variances against project baselines — cost, schedule, and deliverable — and support the SPM in preparing corrective action proposals for review by project leadership.
  • Support the preparation of governance packs, Steering Committee presentations, and cross-site reporting submissions, ensuring data integrity and presentation quality.
  • Maintain the APQP deliverable maturity tracker for assigned projects, monitoring progress against scheduled assessment dates in line with the Safran APQP standard.
2. Planning, Schedule Support & Risk Management
  • Support the maintenance of project schedules in Planisware OSMOZ at Work Package level, ensuring inputs from functional leads are captured, validated, and reflected accurately in the project Master Integrated Schedule.
  • Coordinate schedule update cycles within IPT rituals, chasing inputs from Work Package owners and flagging schedule risks or slippages to the SPM promptly.
  • Maintain the project milestone plan and development logic flowchart, tracking key milestones, dependencies, and critical path activities.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining the project baseline; track change requests against it and support clear documentation of scope, cost, and schedule deviations.
  • Support cross-site schedule alignment between UK, France, and US teams by coordinating data inputs and identifying dependency conflicts.
  • Maintain the project risk and opportunity register, supporting the SPM and PM (Technical) in keeping entries current, actions assigned, and mitigation plans up to date.
  • Track and chase closure of actions arising from IPT meetings, governance reviews, and Master Engineering Review preparation, ensuring accountability and timely resolution.
  • Support the processing of Engineering Change Requests and Change Notices in the company PLM system in line with the CR-CN process, maintaining accurate configuration records.
  • Assist in the preparation of risk and margin analysis summaries for presentation at project reviews and Master Engineering Reviews.
3. Project Management Methods, Tools & Process Compliance
  • Support the deployment and continuous improvement of project management methods, tools, and processes across the PCE Office, in line with One Safran project management standards and the continuous improvement objectives of the PCE Office.
  • Ensure project teams adhere to agreed project management processes, raising non-compliances to the Engineering Acceleration Manager and supporting corrective action.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve project management toolsets — including Planisware OSMOZ configurations, reporting templates, Power BI dashboards, and Excel-based tracking tools — to increase efficiency and data quality across the portfolio.
  • Provide user support and coaching to project team members on the correct application of project management tools and processes.
  • Contribute to the PMO’s workload and capacity management process, collecting resource inputs from Work Package owners and supporting the Engineering Acceleration Manager in producing portfolio-level capacity analyses.
4. Continuous Improvement
  • The Engineering Project Management Officer plays an active role in the continuous improvement of project management practice across the PCE Office. This includes contributing to the improvement and consistent application of project management methods and tools, supporting lessons learned capture across the portfolio, and participating in the Safran Project Management network and expert community. The PMO Officer is expected to champion good practice, support process compliance, and contribute to the overall quality and maturity of project management across the function.
5. Compliance & Governance
  • Ensure proper application of Safran Group project management processes and standards across all assigned projects, including compliance with the development lifecycle process and applicable APQP requirements.
  • Support the structured calendar of project management rituals: weekly Work Package meetings, IPT reviews, and monthly governance cycles — preparing agendas, capturing minutes, and tracking actions.
  • Contribute to PMO audit activities: assessing planning quality, data completeness, and process adherence across the portfolio and reporting findings to the Engineering Acceleration Manager.
  • Participate in lessons learned capture at project milestones and project closure, maintaining records in line with Safran document management standards.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years rxperience in a project management support, PMO, or project coordination role within an engineering or technically complex environment.
  • Demonstrable ability to collect, manage, and present project performance data accurately, including cost tracking, schedule monitoring, and KPI reporting.
  • Proficiency in project management and data tools — including Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling tools, Excel (including pivot tables and data analysis), and Power BI or equivalent reporting platforms.
  • Strong organisational skills with a disciplined approach to data quality, action tracking, and process adherence.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data and status information accurately to project teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Degree-level qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or a closely related discipline — or equivalent combination of education and demonstrable work
Desirable Experience
  • Aerospace and/or defence project management or PMO experience, with familiarity with regulated development processes.
  • Knowledge of an equivalent stage-gate development lifecycle process.
  • Knowledge of Planisware OSMOZ (Safran’s project management platform) or equivalent enterprise PM/ERP system.
  • Familiarity with the company PLM system and engineering change management processes.
  • Experience of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and aerospace quality standards (AS9100).
  • Experience applying Lean or continuous improvement methodologies in a project or PMO context.
  • APM PMQ, PMP, or equivalent professional project management qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • Experience with Agile project management methodology and its application in an engineering development context.
  • French language skills (working proficiency) — beneficial for cross-site coordination with the programme community.
Skills & Behaviours
  • Data Rigour: Meticulous in data collection, validation, and presentation. Understands that accurate data is the foundation of good project decisions.
  • Process Discipline: Follows agreed processes consistently and supports others to do the same. Identifies gaps and proposes pragmatic improvements.
  • Delivery Focus: Gets things done. Tracks actions relentlessly, follows through on commitments, and drives progress without needing constant direction.
  • Structured Thinking: Brings clarity and organisation to complex information. Creates well-maintained plans, trackers, and reports that give the team real visibility.
  • Collaboration: A natural team player who builds effective working relationships across functions and sites; fosters an inclusive, supportive team culture.
  • Communication: Clear and concise — both written and verbal. Able to present project status accurately to a range of audiences.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable moving between programmes and priorities. Embraces a flexible deployment model and thrives in a varied environment.
  • Learning Mindset: Actively seeks to develop PM skills and knowledge; engages with coaching, feedback, and formal development opportunities.
