Job summary

Boden Group is recruiting an Engineering Operations Manager for a prestigious, technically complex site in London. You will lead a ~20 strong engineering team, oversee daily operations, and manage critical M&E infrastructure in a high-stakes environment.

This role requires a strong engineering background, leadership experience, and a hands-on approach to fault diagnosis and maintenance. Monday to Friday with occasional out-of-hours escalation and planned shutdowns.

Qualifications

• Electrical bias preferred; mechanical with electrical knowledge considered.
• Experience in critical environments such as data centres, pharma, or manufacturing.
• Proven experience managing and developing engineering teams.
• Strong communication and proactive stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop an engineering team of ~20 including shift engineers and specialists.
• Oversee daily engineering operations, PPMs, reactive maintenance, fault finding and problem solving.
• Manage M&E infrastructure including HV/LV distribution, UPS, chillers and plant.
• Coordinate switching schedules, planned shutdowns and safe systems of work.
• Manage specialist contractors with focus on quality and compliance.
• Support budgets, asset management, KPIs and continuous improvement.
• Build relationships with clients, stakeholders and the wider team.

Boden Group are working with a leading Facilities Management company to recruit an Engineering Operations Manager for a prestigious, technically complex site in London.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong engineering background who enjoys leading people, solving technical challenges and taking ownership of engineering operations within a critical environment.

The Role:

• Lead, manage and develop an established engineering team of approximately 20, including shift engineers and technical specialists.
• Oversee daily engineering operations, PPMs, reactive maintenance, fault finding and technical problem-solving.
• Manage critical M&E infrastructure, including HV/LV distribution, UPS systems, chillers and associated plant.
• Coordinate switching schedules, planned shutdowns and safe systems of work.
• Manage specialist contractors, ensuring quality, compliance and effective follow-up.
• Support engineering budgets, asset management, performance KPIs and continuous improvement.
• Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and the wider engineering team.

What We're Looking For:

• Strong technical engineering background, ideally electrically biased, although mechanical engineers with good electrical knowledge will be considered.
• Experience within critical environments, data centres, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing or similarly complex settings.
• Proven experience managing and developing engineering teams.
• Good understanding of power distribution, cooling systems and fault diagnosis.
• Relevant engineering qualifications, ideally HNC/HND or equivalent.
• AP experience is desirable, although training can be provided.
• Strong communication skills, a proactive approach and confidence dealing with clients and contractors.

Monday to Friday, with occasional out-of-hours escalation and planned shutdown requirements.
