Job Description:

Equans is looking for a Service Operations Manager to join our Equans Digital business and manage one of our BMS Engineering teams out of our Midlands office on a permanent, full-time basis.

We achieve connectivity through various methods:
1. Connecting building BMS and systems into our SaaS platform
2. Integrating IoT sensors to change behavioral patterns
3. Connecting buildings via IoT sensors fed directly into our SaaS platform

The Service Operations Manager will report to the Head of Maintenance and will work within the Maintenance and Small Works (MSW) business stream, focusing on service contracts, reactive works, and small projects. The role will oversee a team of engineers based in Southern England.

Key activities

  • Attending client operational meetings
  • Customer retention and repeat orders, maintaining the order book
  • Resource planning to ensure efficiency and proper staffing
  • Participating in team meetings
  • Forecasting labor needs weekly
  • Pricing projects and additional works
  • Engineer retention through personnel management and PDRs
  • Assisting in recruitment
  • Growing the order book through field quotations and customer engagement
  • Ensuring out-of-hours engineer coverage across the region
  • Maintaining adequate staffing for regional call-out rotas
  • Providing technical support to the engineering team in collaboration with the Head of Maintenance

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

The candidate should have a background in BMS with supervisory experience, preferably with an HND in engineering and proficiency with equipment from Trend, Siemens, Cylon, or Priva.

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workloads
  • Effective management of work and customer relationships
  • IT literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience in the service environment
  • Electrical knowledge and awareness of IEE Regulations
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and controls
  • Health and safety awareness
