Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continuous access to our services. Amazon seeks a collaborative electrical maintenance professional for our AWS team. The position involves on-site maintenance and operation of electrical, mechanical, emergency generators, and fire/life safety equipment within a data center. The Data Centre Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) ensures mission-critical equipment maintains >99.999% uptime, drives innovation, and reduces operational costs.

EOTs are front-line responders for troubleshooting and operating electrical and mechanical equipment, including standby diesel generators, switchboards, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems. The role requires 24/7 shift coverage, which may include 12-hour shifts, rotating schedules, and varying work weeks based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as filter changes, HVAC PMs, rack power, PDU, and ATS replacements
  • Support Data Centre Operations technicians
  • Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Adhere to safety procedures
  • Work 12-hour shifts, including rotating days and nights
  • Take operational readings during rounds
  • Use CMMS for workflow and inventory management
  • Supervise contractors performing maintenance
  • Respond to emergency calls during on-call rotations
  • Follow physical security policies

Basic Qualifications

  • Commutable to Thames Valley/Ability to work in confined or elevated spaces
  • Technical training or relevant experience
  • Strong communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office, web tools, BMS, EPMS, and maintenance software

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years in Data Centre Engineering and a degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or relevant field
  • Knowledge of network design, low voltage cabling
  • Valid driver’s license, own vehicle, and ability to pass driving checks; travel may be required
