HMGCC is offering an Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship, a 42‑month programme leading to a Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician apprenticeship with an embedded HNC in Engineering. Starting salary is £22,176, rising annually after each year’s completion.

As a Manufacturing Apprentice, you’ll learn new skills, gain experience and be creative whilst developing a new career in a purpose-built advanced manufacturing facility with amazing bespoke equipment and cutting‑edge technology, producing products through the whole lifecycle.You’ll develop your skills by experiencing a variety of placements across manufacturing and the wider business supported by a team of experienced placement supervisors.

You’ll receive all the training, support and guidance you’ll need as you learn skills to enable you to help manufacture products and play an integral part in protecting national security. You’ll learn on the job, whilst also receiving applicable training to develop your skills.

Joining the Manufacturing team, you'll have opportunity to work across multiple disciplines. You'll also gain knowledge of the wide range of machinery and processes that HMGCC has to manufacture products. Not only that but you’ll be helping to protect national security and go on to solve problems you won’t find elsewhere.

More About You

You will have or be predicted to achieve by September 2027:

• 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4-5 or above including English Language, Maths and a Science, Technology or Engineering related subject;

AND EITHER:

• 2 A-Levels at Grade A*-C (preferably STEM subjects)

OR

• BTEC Level 3 Engineering BTEC with a minimum of 90 credits

You’ll also have:

• An interest in how products are created, built, or put together.
• A desire to learn and expand your knowledge and skills.
• Experience of working as part of a team to complete a project or task.

The Scheme

Over the course of your apprenticeship, you’ll split your time between a specialist training provider completing the knowledge and competence qualifications of the programme and on the job training at HMGCC. You’ll also receive paid for membership with a professional organisation such as the Institute of Engineering and Technology.

You’ll get involved in real projects from the beginning. Throughout the programme, you’ll undertake various supervised work placements and customer projects which will give you hands‑on experience to back up the theoretical training.

On completion of the scheme, you’ll have a solid foundation to begin your career as a Manufacturing Engineering Technician with the opportunity to work across multiple disciplines. Your development doesn’t end with the completion of your apprenticeship. You’ll experience a career that’s as varied and progressive as you want it to be.
