Job summary

Flow Traders is strengthening its Research Engineering department by hiring an Engineering Manager who will lead the research software and engineering teams in Amsterdam or with relocation. You will spend time on people, performance, and delivery as you align roadmaps with company goals.

You will own hiring, coaching, and career development, nurture a collaborative culture, and translate complex research and trading requirements into actionable plans that drive high-quality delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong people-leadership skills including coaching, feedback, conflict resolution, and building an environment where engineers thrive.
• Strong project management skills: roadmaps, sequencing, dependencies and risk, ensuring delivery predictability in a fast-moving environment.
• Technical or research background credible to engage with engineers and researchers.

Responsibilities

• Own the roadmap: manage priorities, planning, and sequencing of work in line with company goals.
• Develop your engineers: career planning, promotions, coaching, and performance management.
• Plan and build the team: lead hiring, headcount planning, and resource allocation.
• Cultivate a healthy team: manage culture, morale, productivity, and address conflicts early.
• Lead with rhythm: regular one-on-ones, feedback, and team-building.
• Translate requirements into delivery plans and identify dependencies and risks with other teams.
• Act as liaison between Engineering, Trading, and Quant teams to roll out new products.
• Drive delivery: track progress, manage risks, and report status to stakeholders.
• Continuously improve delivery processes and team velocity.
• Ensure alignment with organizational goals and timelines.
