Job summary

Hadean is building the next generation of defence technology in the UK. As Engineering Manager for populAI, you will lead a multidisciplinary team, align product priorities with technical strategy, and partner with Product, Field Engineering and senior stakeholders to deliver high‑impact simulations.

You will stay hands‑on where needed to maintain credibility, hire and develop top engineers, and drive architectural decisions while maintaining a strong engineering foundation.

Qualifications

• Led and line‑managed a software engineering team, improving people and delivery.
• Engineering management is your craft, not a step after senior engineer.
• Partnered with Product to shape priorities and push back on scope.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery end‑to‑end for populAI and translate product goals into executable plans.
• Line‑manage a multidisciplinary team and grow technical leaders.
• Stay hands‑on when needed to understand the codebase and processes.
• Own hiring for the team and advocate for headcount in roadmap planning.
• Partner with Product Manager to understand the commercial environment and argue for technical investment.
• Work with technical lead and senior specialists on direction and architecture decisions.
• Shape the team’s environment and align with Product, Field Engineering and senior stakeholders.
