Job summary

Brightsmith is supporting a leading UK hydrogen developer with an Interim Engineering Manager role. You will provide hands-on leadership across technical delivery, project oversight, and coordination of multiple workstreams in a fast-moving, agile environment.

The contract is 6–12 months with opportunities to extend and work outside IR35. We are seeking an experienced engineering leader with 8+ years delivering large-scale energy infrastructure, a background in hydrogen or related process

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience delivering large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
• Previous experience as an Engineering Manager.
• Background in hydrogen, biogas, oil & gas or other complex process industries.
• Strong technical leadership with the ability to manage multiple workstreams within a fast-paced project environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering activities across a major hydrogen infrastructure project.
• Oversee electrolyser supply and service contracts.
• Manage ICP procurement and environmental permitting activities.
• Take ownership of project scheduling, resourcing and engineering costs.

As part of this growth, we're looking to appoint an Interim Engineering Manager to join a lean, high-performing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-rounded engineering leader who enjoys taking ownership across technical delivery, project oversight and coordinating multiple workstreams in a fast-moving environment.

We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, agile organisation, is comfortable wearing multiple hats, and can provide hands-on leadership as the business continues to scale.

(6-12 month contract assignment, with opportunities to work outside IR35).
