Engineering Manager, Cloud Platform - (Remote - Northern Ireland)

One of our companies is seeking an Engineering Manager, Cloud Platform in Northern Ireland. We are looking for a forward-thinking leader to oversee a high-impact Cloud Platform team focused on building scalable, secure, and cost-efficient infrastructure. This role involves designing and managing modern cloud-native platforms across AWS and GCP, fostering a developer-first environment with self-service tools, and leading initiatives to ensure platform reliability and performance. You will play a key role in enabling engineering teams through automation, observability, and innovation. Accountabilities:
  1. Lead development of a secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud platform leveraging AWS and GCP.
  2. Drive the implementation of Kubernetes clusters and cloud-native services emphasizing standardization and efficiency.
  3. Empower development teams by building tools that promote self-service infrastructure deployment and management.
  4. Implement frameworks such as DORA and SPACE to monitor and improve developer productivity.
  5. Oversee a comprehensive 24/7 monitoring strategy to meet service reliability and performance goals.
  6. Collaborate across teams to define cloud strategy, deliver key projects, and optimize cloud spending using FinOps practices.
  7. Mentor a distributed team of engineers, promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Requirements:
  1. 8+ years of experience in software engineering or cloud platform roles, including at least 2 years in leadership or management.
  2. Deep expertise with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), and databases like MySQL, DynamoDB, or Cassandra.
  3. Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi, and observability tools like Datadog or CloudWatch.
  4. Experience implementing AI-powered tools for workflow optimization and operational improvements.
  5. Proven success in establishing scalable, SLO-driven monitoring strategies in 24/7 environments.
  6. Ability to manage distributed teams, foster innovation, and drive results in a collaborative, inclusive setting.
  7. Strong communication and mentorship skills, committed to team growth and diversity.
