Job summary

Ipsum Utilities Limited is seeking an Engineering Manager in Wakefield to lead the Private Networks Division, driving delivery quality and team performance. You will oversee health and safety compliance, provide technical direction, and collaborate with operations, project management and service teams to maximise utilisation.

You will bring a strong background in HV/LV electrical systems, resource planning and customer-focused project delivery, with a track record of improving engineering

  • HV/LV electrical systems knowledge required.

  • Strong health and safety leadership and risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of engineers within the Private Networks Division.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance and foster a strong safety culture.
  • Deliver high-quality technical work across projects and services.
  • Support sales with technical input to define customer solutions.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Project Management and Service teams to optimise resources.
  • Improve engineering processes through lessons learned and continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships and satisfaction.

Job description

We have fantastic opportunity to join our Private Networks Division as an Engineering Manager

You will be results-driven with extensive experience leading high-performing engineering teams in fast-paced technical environments. Proven ability to drive operational excellence, champion health and safety, and deliver complex engineering projects to the highest quality standards.

Strong background in HV/LV systems, technical leadership, resource planning, and customer-focused project delivery, with a track record of improving team performance, maximising utilisation, and supporting business growth. Recognised for developing engineering talent, solving complex technical challenges, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and building lasting relationships with customers and stakeholders through collaborative leadership and clear communication.

As an Engineering Manager you will …
  • Lead and develop a team of engineers within the Private Networks Division.
  • Take overall responsibility for health and safety compliance and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure high-quality technical delivery across projects and services.
  • Support the sales team by providing technical expertise and helping define the right customer solutions.
  • Work closely with Operations, Project Management, and Service teams to ensure sufficient skilled resources and maximise utilisation.
  • Improve engineering processes through lessons learned and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong customer relationships and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • Engineering Qualification (ONC, HNC, or equivalent).
  • IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent health and safety qualification.
  • Experience in a technical engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems.
  • Experience leading and developing engineering teams.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and solve complex engineering problems.
  • Experience managing resources in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Working Hours: (Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, 8.30am to 5pm)
